Its now official that Trevor Oliver won't be playing on.
The West Australian has a story on it today and what we all feared has been confirmed.
A tragedy
The only trifling bit of good news is that had Ollie been able to play on, he would most certainly have been drafted into the AFL, meaning that we would have lost him anyway. There are several levels of disappointment, not the least that a classy player's career has come to a grinding halt, but in a more mercenary tone, the Club has lost out on any monetary return for Ollie's obvious talent.
A tragedy, which ever way we look at it.
Its interesting that our FM made the announcement - for he was in a very similar situation himself. A quality young player, played State footy, who broke down with injury at about 22 years of age. He is well placed to comment on the sad end to Ollie's career in footy.
